Lara V, the latest entry in the Tomb Raider series is out and has got rave reviews from most game critics. The game revolves around a young woman who falls into an ancient tomb, and along with her faithful Guardian, they must embark on a mission to find the lost Tomb King – hopefully preventing World War III. The game starts with Lara, who is unaware of her heritage, and has no idea who she is or what she does for a living. As the game unfolds, we learn that her life has been haunted by danger ever since her death. As she searches for the meaning of her own life, she comes across the story of an ordinary girl called Natalya, who may have the potential to be the next Tomb King.
Natalya’s past is revealed to be that of the last King of Lara’s ancestors, who was also known as Natala. It is revealed that the Tomb King had many children, but they were murdered by his rival. The King then leaves his great wealth to Natala, promising to support her in her quest to find the buried Tomb King. However, a few years later, Natala is herself discovered wandering the streets of her own village, looking for her lost father. The two form an unlikely partnership in order to help each other find answers to the many questions that hover over their relationship
Despite being one of the youngest games in the current consoles, and having a female protagonist, it seems that Lara V is largely ignored by the gaming community. Despite having a low sales record and a fairly average video score (according to Metacritic), this PC game has not been given a second chance by gaming companies. This has been unfortunate given that the game features some fantastic action sequences, an interesting storyline, and an interesting cast of supporting characters.
