Jianwei Smith and Mark Kastel on “The Big Short”

A documentary about the rise and fall of a very hot stock market. The movie is based on an acclaimed New York Times bestseller by Kevin Roose entitled “A Tale of Two Cities.”

“Frost/Nixon” – The National Film Board of Canada’s feature film adaptation of David R. Henderson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning fiction story about the U.S. president Richard Nixon’s White House during the Watergate scandal.

“The Host” – Directed by Paul Neubauer, the documentary tells the story of John Dies at the End, the legendary rock-and-roll band formerly known as The Doors.

“Kicking and Screaming” – “Pig’s Eyez” stars Adam Driver and Jessica Biel as a couple trying to save a cat that has been left to be abandoned on the side of a street. The movie follows the three friends as they work to care for the feline.

“The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” – The original 1986 Japanese-language feature film “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” follows the adventures of “Gendo Fuyutsuki” and his Japanese roommate, a man who is the “greatest living philosopher.” Though it is based on Japanese author Fuyutsuki’s popular manga of the same name, the movie is based on the real life of “Gendo Fuyutsuki.” One actor from the original film has said he was offered a large amount of money for the role.

“Pixar’s Toy Story 3” – The story of three talking toys who must return to the land of the living after a journey back in time to save their family.

“Spiderman” Trilogy – Written by Alan Silvestri, based off a graphic novel written in the ’20s by Will Eisner. The story involves a superhero named Spidey as he pursues the villain Black Cross, a supervillain with a mind controlling virus. As the film has been criticized by some, it is a much longer movie than the series intended.

“The Wailing 2” – First released in 2012 and updated in 2015, “The Wailing 2” is a dark comedy.
