Ingrid Mazzola is currently playing with the role of the lead character in the acclaimed film “Genocide” opposite Charlize Theron. This is one of the few films directed by someone other than Quentin Tarantino, and is also one that is based on true events (as opposed to the vast majority of movies that are based on urban legend). And as a result, there is so much more depth to Ingrid Mazzola’s character than most of her previous roles.
Mazzola has always been a character actress who can do no wrong. Her best known roles have been in Italian movies (“The Girl with a Pearl Earring”, “A Woman In Love”, “Gaslight” and “L’Amore Paris”). However, it was her first English language role that helped her achieve international stardom, in the movie “Nebraska” (also co-starring Tim Stack and Dan Aykroyd). She then went on to star in “The Mysterious Lady” and “Titanic” before winning the Oscar for her work in the first of those two movies.
Nowadays Mazzola is best known for her career as an actress, but she did also have a small role in the Coen brothers’ “The Secret Life of Bees” as well as in the animated film “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. I’m sure we will see plenty more from Ingrid Mazzola in the future. She is also known for her passionate Christian faith and continues to speak out about issues like poverty and the deterioration of the planet. She might not be able to find a role in Hollywood right now due to age or her hair length, but I am sure we will see more of Ingrid Mazzola in the coming years. Her star has always been as strong as her career, and I am certain that will continue.
