How to Make a Fashion Trend Report
Due to the fact that fashion trends and fashion forecasting are very important aspects of the fashion business, a segment of the wholesale clothing industry is dedicated to the field of fashion forecasting, trend spotting and then actual trend reporting. The difference between fashion forecasting and fashion planning is that it is concerned with the future of a particular style rather than presenting an image or an idea of a trend in a particular time frame. In the world of fashion, the two types of forecasts are often used interchangeably. The forecasting process evaluates the current styles and the future styles based on the current demand for the style. Trend reporting on the other hand looks at the current trends and how the changes in these trends will affect the customers’ buying behaviour.
With regards to fashion forecasting, it has been found that the fashion business has a very short memory when it comes to changes made in the production process. This short memory is mainly due to the short time frame and therefore the retailers need to be very keen in observing the changes that are taking place in their business. Trends are considered as a major factor in the analysis of these trends. As such many of them (over 80%) study the marketing trends which can be found in various newspapers, magazines, billboard ads, radio and television channels, etc.
Another major area that is studied in fashion trends is the study of heuritech, the study of which is a crucial component of fashion forecasting. Heuritech refers to fabrics and materials as well as designs in order to give a complete picture of what a particular outfit will look like. With this in mind, one would expect that the prices of these fabrics and materials would go up if they are already popular and if they are new designs.
