Abigail Crooks has been delighted with her decision to work with nationally recognized, Tall Women’s Network (THN). The program was created in response to recent reports that many tall women were being turned away from traditional job searches or having their applications edited to remove references about her height. As a result, many of these same professionals were left feeling frustrated and disappointed that they could not pursue their dreams. Abigail Crooks has taken matters into her own hands and has started her first day as a member of THN. She is also glad to have the support of her former coach and mentor who are now part of the Tall Women’s Network.
“I am so grateful for all the help I have received from my former coach, Dr. JoAnn Simmons, and my mentor, Dr. Melinda Daszak. They have both given me the tools and confidence I need to succeed now. They have encouraged me to persevere and be creative in finding ways to make a difference in the world while keeping my personal and professional life separate. This is very important for me because my career and personal goals are very different from those of my friends. I am just thankful that my coaches and mentors understand this.”
Abigail Crooks’ story is quite typical of what can happen when an aspiring tall professional seeks out a mentor and coach. Tall women often feel isolated, overlooked and often maligned, which can have a negative impact on their professional and personal lives. With the tremendous support received from so many members of the Tall Women’s Network, it seems that Abigail is on the right track. The advice and guidance provided by both Dr. Simmons and Dr. Daszak have helped Abigail take control of her career, love life and health.
