Angie McMahon is an Australian singing-singer and musician from Melbourne, Victoria who rose to fame as a member of the band Xscape. She rose to stardom with the release of her self-titled first studio album, Salt. Her music has been featured in many award winning films such as The Social Network, The Edge of Every Smile and Eternal Love, which she also wrote and performed on. In addition to her music career, she has also found fame as a model and personality in television’s Extreme Makeover: medically certified, winner of the Walkley’s Senior Award and has even been named Australian of the Year three times.
At a young age, Angie was already very well known for her distinct singing voice. As her parents encouraged her to pursue a career in singing, Angie took a few years to decide on what path her career would take. Eventually, the couple settled on becoming professional musicians and decided to call their new band Xscape. At the time, they chose to record their first full length album at a famous recording studio in Melbourne called Capitol. When they arrived there they were shocked by the size of the building and had difficulty fitting in the tiny studio. Nonetheless, they stuck with it and after two more albums went straight into the top ten on the Australian charts.
It wasn’t until she was twenty years old when they decided to separate, and Angie began dating her best friend, singer-actor Michael Chiklis. Michael and Angie have remained good friends throughout their years of working together, and now Michael has asked Angie to be his wife. Angie accepted the proposal, but she knew that her age and nationality would keep them from being able to get married. Luckily, twenty years later, Angie is legally an adult in both Australia and the United States. This is not the first marriage for Angie, however, she has remained open to relationships with men throughout her lifetime.
