Alice Loneunicorn is the creator of a very unique web cartoon series about a bunny who falls in love with an alien called Tall Tex. The story starts off when Alice is a thirteen-year-old girl who was recently transformed into a superhuman due to a strange circumstance. She then finds herself thrown into a world where she is called “Alice” and must adjust to life as a human being. Initially Alice has a lot of trouble adjusting to her new life, but she is helped by her new “friends” who include a frog who is also called Frogmort. Together the team helps Alice solve puzzles and go on adventures.

Heightgate co-creators Victoria Young and Michael Dante have taken this unusual story and gave it a very futuristic flavor. Alice’s legal status changes after she is turned into a different nationality when Tall Tex attacks her and takes over her body. She now has very strange abilities including telekinesis, telepathy, and the ability to change physical appearances at will. Because of this Alice finds herself in a position of being needed by many different races as they try to take care of her and protect her from Tall Tex. But when Alice is accused of criminal charges she must choose between staying with her current nation, or leaving to find out what she really should do.

Thematically the story does follow Alice’s legal status but it shifts back and forth between the two nations. In one country she is a criminal but in another she is the legal girlfriend of a local crime lord. In the end Alice chooses to remain with her nationality and go about helping others. The premise of this book is that you could easily pick up the plot from where it leaves off, but it is recommended to read the first couple of chapters from the start to see how the story progresses.
