Recently in an Australian Television show entitled “Caroline Lestang: Height Quiz” an interesting contest was held to see who the shortest person on earth was; the results were a close shave between 48-year-old Australian woman, Caroline Lestang, and her husband, Richard; the next highest being female Olympic athlete, Christineaina Gauthier at only 23 years of age. What is interesting about this is that not only were Richard and Caroline listed as the shortest men ever, but both are well known for their different nationalities. When asked by the host if she felt that it was important that her height was important, Caroline answered;
“It’s nice when people say I’m lucky, because I feel I’m a lucky girl, in so many ways. Being tall has many advantages. Being tall means that I can walk up hills; that I can tackle things head-on, and that I can run faster. There are several things that make me happy, and also make me proud of my height.”
In reference to her husband, Richard, he was quoted as saying; “Caroline is beautiful, but she is not tall. I am proud to be tall, and I’m happy with my height.” The episode also included a puzzle for the ladies; in this puzzle, a picture of a man (presumably Richard) was placed at various points around the globe, and women had to guess where this man might be sitting. The woman who place the correct answer first was declared the winner. The Nationality of the couple was mentioned as “international” and” multicultural”, implying that they may perhaps have come over to Australia from some other country besides the one they came over to live for the majority of their lives.
