Ma Ya is the Filipino’s national sport; more popularly known as Karate, it originated from martial arts practiced by the Filipinos and hence is commonly called “The Filipino Way of Martial Arts”. The art of Kung-fu has been a part of the Filipino’s National Culture since the early days. One: Known by many different names and aliases, Ma Ya is a common name that originates from different Philippine nationalities: Chinese (Mandarin), Spanish (Arguic), Korean (Korean), Indonesian (Jakarta) and other Indonesian tribes (post-classical). It is used as a name for both sexes. However, in the case of Chinese, Ma can be more masculine while for Koreans and Japanese, Ma is more feminine. For other nationalities, Ma Ya is used as a nickname for women who are tall or petite.
Two: Profession – Ma Ya is most famous as a teacher, but the truth is that Ma is a very accomplished personality who is well-known not only for his teaching skills but also for his height. In the early times, Ma Ya was an assistant of the monks of Mindanao Church, where he served as an usher; later, he entered in the profession of fencing. Today, he manages to maintain a teaching career even though he continues to practice his fencing skills as a personal hobby.
