Lisa has written over eighty romantic suspense novels, most of which were produced by Random House. As described by her own descriptions in the Height of Love, Lisa Kleypas is an American who was raised primarily in San Francisco as a child. After high school, Lisa Kleypas was apparently chosen as the ideal “spouse” for a rich Spanish national by her stepfather. Lisa was supposedly given the name Lisa Lauren and was told that her new husband would be her biological mother – a revelation that left Lisa deeply distressed and confused about her future. It was then suggested to Lisa that she marry Jose da Silva Pereira, a Brazilian national who had come to be recognized as an expert in the care of deformed babies. Lisa’s new marriage to Jose was anything but happy, and the American writer ended up becoming very angry with the man she loved over the course of their marriage.
