Cynthia Houben is an award winning author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur. Her latest book is “Rebecca’s World: Making Money With no Accident”. It’s a book on how to be an entrepreneur regardless of your nationality, educational background, or age. In her book she discusses the importance of nationality, income level and age when choosing a business partner and shares her case studies on how she chooses clients. She also discusses the differences between owning a corporation and a limited liability company (LLC) as well as how to avoid pitfalls in each of these structures. This book provides entrepreneurs with an insightful look into the world of corporate law, how to hire a lawyer and the importance of considering the future while starting a business.
Some of the topics discussed in this text include: The Four Pillars of Business Success; Nationality and Income, Age and Profession, Gender and Partner Orientation. In the introduction, Cynthia emphasizes that owning a business requires partners that have similar backgrounds and values and that being a citizen of a country doesn’t necessarily disqualify you as a business partner. She also discusses the importance of being familiar with the laws and regulations of various countries and the different types of licenses available to entrepreneurs. In particular, she emphasizes that there are four pillars of business success: mergers and acquisitions, growth, innovation and management. She further discusses how having citizenship of a country does not preclude you from starting a business. Instead, if you want to enjoy all of the benefits of being a citizen of a certain country then it is possible to do so if you are willing to invest the time and effort into learning about the laws of your chosen country.
I really enjoyed reading this engaging and humorous read about business leadership and becoming a citizen of a country. At times, I felt like Ms. Houben was too simplistic but then she definitely hits the mark. If you have a passion for height readings and have a desire to teach others about the dynamics involved then this is an excellent book for you to read. In spite of its somewhat skeptical nature, I think you will find this story of how tall people can effect change in a business very interesting and thought provoking.
