Height Does Not Equal Success in Life – Why Not?

Anna Angelica Roos is an American female weightlifter, currently living in California. She is a member of the United States National Team. Anna Angelica Roos was born in Southern California, the daughter of two doctors. She trained in osteopathic medicine before turning to weightlifting and now has a professional portfolio featuring her work as a National Park Ranger and a member of the United States National Park Service.

Height is important in both sports, but in different ways. A short frame is great for sports such as basketball, baseball, football, softball and lacrosse. There are not many taller players with the kind of vertical jump that Angelica has, however. The same can be said of football and lacrosse. In volleyball, shorter players can use their height to their advantage to rack up points and move to the championships, while the taller players have to rely more on technique.

Height certainly does not play a role in Anna Angelica Roos’ decision to become a professional volleyball player and a member of the national team. While her height might not have been an issue for her in the past, in this sport, height can be an issue. This is not the case in basketball, where a center is rarely needed, and in softball where speed is the most important characteristic. But volleyball and basketball need a lot of skill, and a lot of agility, and that is not possible for a player with a flat stomach. It is therefore strange that in these two sports, when it comes to talent and ability, height is usually not a decisive factor that affects success.
