Adriana Zucco is a famous actress and producer from the sixties who has managed to change the landscape of Italy through her films. She was born in Genoa, Italy but is believed to have spent much of her early years in Milan, in what was then the indisputable center of Mafia affairs in Italy. Her mother died when she was very young and she was taken under the care of her cousin Piero Costanzo, who became her real father. As a result of this she was always under the care of Piero’s younger half-sister, Corina, until she herself was ready to move on to a new stage in her life.
Aged 36, Adriana Zucco has managed to reinvent herself over again, but each time has managed to add something more to her already outstanding CV. After several years in the movies, she has managed to win many awards for her acting skills. She has appeared in such classics as Amores Perros, Greco and Viva Zapata among others. This impressive CV has made her an integral part of the Italian film industry and to this day she continues to work and act in various high profile Italian films and TV shows. As a producer, she has produced some of the best Italian movies of the last decade, including Amores Perros and La vita dei Donne.
The question of nationality is definitely a non issue for Adriana Zucco. She was born an Italian and speaks fluent Italian, although she herself believes that she would like to be proud of her nationality. “I am not Italian by birth, I am by choice. I am not Italian by choice because I think it is a pity that many people do not understand about Italy and what it stands for. But if you say you are from Naples and you are not Italian, you are lying. I am not pretending to be Italian or exaggerating, I am just saying that my roots are Naples and my nationality is Italian.”
