Height Defying Hormones

Recently, a close friend of mine revealed that her older half-sister, Lisa J, has been trying to be more outgoing and “put out” since her divorce from groom Thomas. Since her marriage, she has dated a lot more and developed quite the resume, and it’s quite impressive indeed. But it is unfortunate that her attempts to “fake it” as an “outgoing” professional are going to backfire on her because people will start assuming she is after fame and/or money, when in all actuality, she just wants to find her true calling.

At times, I think she might be too modest for her own good. It seems as though, due to her height (5′ 4″), she must need to put on some sort of mask to hide her inadequacies. It’s unfortunate that she’ll never be aware of the fact that being tall and thin will most likely result in people assuming you’re only there for your physical looks and not in your career, education, hobbies, compassion, and kindness.

When I met with her, Lisa J told me her dream was to be a professional basketball player, but now that she’s finally getting that opportunity, she’s having trouble focusing on the career. “I can’t focus on the NBA,” she said. “I have to do this job first before I get to the next level.” Ironically, now that she’s achieved success in her chosen profession, she feels like she’s missing something by not going into sports marketing. Being tall and thin isn’t everything in the sports world these days, especially when Lisa J is able to be so successful as a professional basketball player.
