Height Defined – A Short History of Height-Defining Books and Movies

Paola Giometti is an exciting young adult and fan fiction writer, best known for her O Destino do Lobo book. At 11 she already was regarded as the youngest female writer in Brazil with her first novel, Noite ao Mano, published by Cassandra Rios in 1990. The amazing thing is that while growing up in a poor rural background without a superhero to role model for, Giometti managed to turn herself into one.

In her novels, Giometti draws heavily from real life: she makes use of everyday situations, places, and people to tell her story. As such, some of her descriptions of rural life are a bit exaggerated, but I found the style of storytelling compelling. However, Giometti’s most famous novel, O Despreciados, is not exactly a romance story. Rather, it’s a social comment on Brazilian life and culture and offers a glimpse at the underside of Brazil’s success: poverty and lack of opportunities. As a result, O Despreciados doesn’t really have a main character, but instead it’s presented through various narrations, each more entertaining than the last.

In many ways, Giometti’s greatest strength is her vision, which brings real life to her stories, making them richer and more interesting to those who sit down with the books. And, of course, height definitely plays a key role in all of her work. At times, her height has an impact on her narration; as such, she has borrowed it from both her parents (in her case, her father being six feet, while her mother being about 5 feet 8 inches). Paola Giometti definitely has the height to play the lead role in her novels, but if you’re interested in learning more about her, I highly recommend you take a look at her resume.
