Height and Age in the National Football League

As a former athlete, Height and Age have always been a major issue when considering a professional sports career. The question has always been whether height would really matter much in the National Football League? Most of the time it seems that height or being a “lighter” person will not matter very much in the NFL. However, there have been a couple of NFL players who have been known to stand out because they are taller than the majority of their peers. One such player is Dana Moraiti. In this article, I will discuss my thoughts on this matter and whether or not height or nationality matters in the NFL.

Height and Age definitely matter in the National Football League. There are some analysts who believe that the National Football League should eliminate the national origin clauses from their athletic contract contracts. However, there are many football fans who disagree with this notion on the basis that if a player is from a certain country and is playing football, does that mean that he or she is going to be any better at the sport than an American or a Canadian is? I personally disagree with this reasoning, and I will henceforth explain why.

First, there is no clear cut answer as to whether or not a player is going to be better or worse because of his or her height. However, there are some obvious reasons as to why height may not matter in the NFL. For example, it has been speculated that running backs in the NFL will not be as successful unless they gain a few extra pounds. Also, I don’t think that the NFL would ever eliminate the national origin clauses simply because their athletes aren’t as tall as some of their collegiate counterparts (who are bigger and stronger). The bottom line is that there is a good chance that height will come into play somewhere in the professional football world, but I would definitely say that it is just a small factor in the overall success.
