Maya Dirado is a name that has become synonymous with high style and sophistication. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Maya became known as an American by the name” dirado” after enrolling in the University of Southern California’s school of Design. However, she soon changed her name to Maya Diriado when she changed her profession. It is rumored that Maya Diriado may have been named after her mother who was of the same height and color, both of which are a common trait in Lagosians. The truth is probably lies in between.

Maya is currently training to be a professional swimmer at the Institute of Exercise and Sport Sciences, Lagos, Nigeria. She is listed at number twenty on the US National Junior Olympic committee for the freestyle event. At present, she is training with an all time high-profile partner in tow – Olympic champion sprinter, Lieselotter. The two have made an intriguing partnership for the benefit of young swimmers and divers alike. Their official website states that Lieselotter is in charge of advising the pair on their line of physicality and fitness during each training session, while the mother of two constantly offers advice on diet and nutrition, as well as making sure that Maya and her mother to eat a healthy and balanced diet.

If you’re unfamiliar with Maya Diriado, here’s a quick bit of information about her career and personal life. Born in Southern California, Maya became a well known name in the weightlifting community due to her impressive physique, which earned her a place on the cover of the June 1997 edition of the Men’s Health Mag. Her credentials on the International Gymnastics Association (IGA) and other national level sporting organizations were also detailed in that particular issue. A former member of the U.S. National Team, Maya was also a four-time winner of the ladies’ gold medal at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Today, she is happily married with two children. She remains active in coaching and assisting kids with fitness and wellness endeavors.
