Claim: Raut’s wife, Sunanda Padmanabhan (50), was also a complainant in the complaint.

The prosecution argued that in their complaint, both Raut and her husband had also alleged that they were victims of a caste discrimination case. Sunanda Raut did not appear for the hearing of the case at her place of residence in Ghizaria Colony (south Delhi). Her father, Mukesh, has written to the court requesting that Sunanda appear for the hearing and that she may ask the court to remove Raut from the dock.

A Delhi court Judge adjourned the matter to April 11.

No. 62: Ghanshyam Raut

Name: Ghanshyam Raut

Age: 56

Claim: Ghanshyam Raut, a Delhi resident, was the third complainant against Gopal Raut. The case against Raut is filed by his daughter, Sunanda, on behalf of their two sons, Ramesh and Nilesh.

On October 18, 2015, in the presence of Gopal Raut’s brother, the judge ruled in favour of Ramesh Raut, Ramesh’s father. Ramesh, who was a complainant in the complaint, has moved the high court seeking removal of the accused from the dock.

Ghansh has also filed a written plea in this regard to the court, which the police have lodged as one of evidence against the accused.

Ramesh has sought removal of the accused from the dock and a bench of three justices have scheduled the contempt hearing for March 28.

According to an RTI reply by a senior police officer to a Right to Information activist, Gopal Raut had accused Ramesh of falsely alleging that Ghanshyam Raut had forced him to get married. As per the RTI reply, Gopal Raut has also taken the police to task over charges of false arrest, false imprisonment, false witness to assault and sexual harassment on Sunanda Padmanabhan Raut.
