Giulia Manini: Age And Nationality Do Not Equal A Threat

The first thing that comes to mind when one hears of Giulia Manini is her height. The official website of the campaign proclaims that she is 1.76 m, which would make her the eighth shortest candidate to ever win a Miss World title. This of course is not exactly true, since there are many other contestants who could be under 1.75 m and many in between. But it seems that Giulia is not exactly an average height woman, but she certainly has good genetics and certainly has a good posture.

In addition to her height, another characteristic that comes to our mind when we hear about Giulia Manini is her citizenship. If we look at the Miss World pageants from past years, we will see that the majority of winners are European and the vast majority of them are ladies who are in their thirties or forties. So does this mean that Giulia is an eligible immigrant? In principle yes, as long as she follows all the rules of the game. If, however, she fails to declare her marital status or her nationality when entering the competition, then she can be disqualified. This is a common practice with the Italian governance and is perfectly acceptable, as there is nothing wrong with someone winning a title without being at least eighteen years of age and who subsequently chooses not to take up citizenship and to stay native.

However, should Giulia Manini choose to marry a foreigner then there is a possibility that she might lose her citizenship. In theory, this can happen if she gets married to an ineligible national, or if she marries and later retracts her marriage to that person. In the past, it seems that only criminal cases were the subject of such checks, but according to a recent article in Corri magazine, it is now possible to check if a candidate is married before she becomes a permanent resident of the country. It is therefore recommended that any potential bride-to-be makes use of the services of a lawyer who specialises in immigration law.
