Aurora Village, Alberta, Canada is one of the most unique and scenic places to visit. Over a period of over 150 years, it’s transformed itself from a sleepy, farming town to a picturesque community with world-class activities and amenities for all ages. The original intent was to provide a home for mountain goats in order to protect their produce, but instead the village is now known as an educational hub, complete with an award-winning national park and a multitude of parks and preserves. As well as being one of the provinces (and the third largest province in the entire country) with national parks, the village is also home to a wide variety of parks that cater to different skill and interest levels. This includes:

The National Park: With over 80 different protected locations in four provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario), the National Park offers something for everyone. Located just north of the islands in the beautiful province of Alberta, the National Park features spectacular scenery such as forested mountains and deep gorges; thick canyons; and impressive glaciers. It’s a place that’s not only great for hiking, snowboarding, skiing and snowshoeing, but is also ideal for a complete outdoor adventure holiday. It is also home to numerous attractions such as the Starlight Flight Museum, which was created in memory of flight attendants who died in the line of duty in 2021; the Canada Aviation Heritage Museum; the Alberta Aquarium; the Calgary Winter Festival; and the National Eskimo Wildlife Site. All of these sites are located in the southern portion of the city of Yellowknife and you can get to them by taking a long ride on the Trans Canada Trail or hiking along the famous Yellowknife River.

The Sports And Entertainment Area: The entire city of Yellowknife is home to many popular sports and entertainment venues. There’s nothing like catching every CFL game during your stay in town, watching an amateur sport like paintball fight in the park, or going to watch an old-time rodeo in northern Canada. The arena that hosted the annual Canadian Mortgage and Housing Festival is also a great place to catch every Calgary Flames game during the season. For more high-end entertainment, you can check out the new shopping centre, called the Gallery Barn, which is located in the city’s downtown. It features retail outlets, live entertainment, and tons of sports memorabilia, books, and videos.
