Fernanda Urrejola is a Chile actress, producer and singer. She was married to the late Richard Nixon aide, John Weld Pope in 1977. They had two children and have since divorced.
Fernanda Urrejola was born in Santiago de la Ribera, the capital of Chile and is in her mid-thirties. Her profession has been a mystery because neither she nor her partner ever appeared on the screen together. Fernanda Urrejola is described by friends as a very private person who is devoted to her career. She had modest beginnings, starting out playing the role of a schoolteacher’s assistant. Later she began appearing in different local plays and films, until finally landing a role in a famous soap opera in Chile. From there she went on to play different characters in a number of other popular and successful shows.
Fernanda Urrejola’s main attribute and perhaps her greatest talent is as an actress portraying women characters with a strong individuality and sometimes a hint of selfishness. She has been nominated for Emigrate Day, the Satellite Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama, winning the Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Drama at the 1997 Academy Awards, which she shared with Julia Roberts. Her other notable awards include the Satellite Awards for Outstanding Feature, the ACE (Cooperation between an Entertainment Industry and Education) Award, the Cinema Prize and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the jury. She has also won many international awards for her works in the theater, including the Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Drama at the Cannes Film Festival in France and the Satellite Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Drama at the London Film Festival.
