Fernanda Souto is a talented young artist whose work has represented Italy at the Venice Biennale and the Venice Art Festival. Fernanda was born in Cavalleria Sant’ Antonia in Piacenza, it is a place of cultural diversity and the only “fragile” part of the city. Her paintings portray a bold display of color, life and movement. Fernanda Souto’s enthusiasm for art began at early ages and she is presently always surrounded by her canvass, almost every moment a canvas in progress, with the same enthusiasm.

Fernanda Souto has been described as a versatile and dynamic artist. She has gone through many phases of her life and throughout each of these she has expressed different cultural identities but has always maintained her dual identity as a realist. Her works have portrayed women and topics such as love, family, religion and nature. Her artwork has also reflected aspects of the political life of Italy and her use of color has been characterized by bold and rich tones. Fernanda Souto has used a wide range of media to create her paintings and the mediums most popular among her mediums are watercolors, oils, acrylic paints and the more recently popular digital media. Fernanda Souto’s works are characterized by their luminous and lively colors that are rich in imagery and beauty.

Fernanda Souto is still an active participant in the contemporary art scene in Italy and has exhibited extensively both domestically and internationally; her art has won prestigious prizes in both the European and International competitions. Fernanda Souto began her career in art as a commercial illustrator before she pursued a career in painting. She is represented by several collectors worldwide. Fernanda enjoys travelling and now lives in New Zealand, where she is able to pursue her painting career full time. She married Cosmo Castelluccio in 1990 and they have a son, Marco.
