Fernanda Liz is a Brazilian professional Jiu-Jitsu fighter. She has beaten several of the top level opponents in the sport’s history, including Hollyrine LeCure, Jessica Aguilar, Zolla Frausto and Randa Campos. Fernanda is popular throughout Brazil due to her amazing height and strength, making her one of the most desired prospects in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. However, many people do not realize just how good Fernanda Liz is, or how highly regarded she is within the Jiu-Jitsu community until they see her compete or see her work with others at the Gracie Barra gym in Rio de Janeiro.

Fernanda was born in Sintra, Brazil, though she claimed to be born in Brazil as well. Regardless of where Fernanda really was though, she would end up in Rio de Janeiro at the Gracie Barra to train with her cousin and friend Luiz Henricos. At the time, Fernanda was known simply by her first name, but people soon came to know her as Fernanda Liz. It was also then that the Jiu-Jitsu prodigy would put on quite a few accomplishments in Jiu-Jitsu including the first ever American female to win the blue ribbon with a belt at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Fernanda is one of only two women in the entire world to hold the title of “Fernanda Liz” – which means “beautiful lady”. Her amazing height is what sets her apart from all the other women in this profession, though her personality is far from boring and traditional as you might expect. Fernanda is fun, outgoing, very smart, and very humble – qualities that make her a great instructor and a great companion as well. Her career as a Jiu-Jitsu champion is only the beginning of the impressive body of work she’s been involved with, ranging from being a member of the cast of the reality television show “The Ultimate Fighter” to coaching at the Gracie Barra gym in Rio.
