Fernanda Figueira – A Career Journey

Fernanda Figueira is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and is the owner of Figueira Jiu-Jitsu. In her day to day life, she runs her own fitness center in Sape and travels the world teaching BJJ. But her main passion is in coaching her son, Luiz, a promising wrestler at the Rio Olympics. When he was 8 years old, Fernanda took him to stay at her home for about a month to train. It was there, that he learned the skills that would stand him in good stead throughout his wrestling career.

She has developed a very strong relationship with her partner. Fernanda describes her partner as her “soul mate.” They are so different, yet so similar. As they spend time together, they develop a very strong connection. This strong connection has allowed both of them to achieve great things in their careers.

Fernanda’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu career began at the age of 18 when she entered the wrestling section of the state tournaments. Since then, she has won the world championship four times and has been named the best wrestler in the world by the Inter-Federation of Wrestling Professionals.
