Fashion Trends For Guys in the 1980’s

The 1980’s fashion trends for guys featured a wide variety of fashions in both formal and casual wear. Guys dressed in suits and other business-like attire adorned their best investment with neckties, leather jackets, and dress loafers with classic cummerbund slip-ons. Accessorizing further consisted of wearing the newest in designer handbags as well as wearing a wide variety of cuff links and jewelry. With the arrival of street life, many began to experiment with body art and created body art with chains, piercings, and body spray.

A popular trend for the decade was for males to shave their heads, which was a new fashion that was not commonly seen in previous years. In addition to the trend for shaved heads, there also appeared to be an increase in ties, shirts with embroidered logos, and designer bow tie combinations. This increased the fashion choices available to guys. Along with the appearance of this new fashion for men, came the appearance of colorful socks, colorful boxer shorts, and even colorful work boots. All of these fashions helped to make the decade an exciting time for both genders. Even though there were not as many options in jeans as there have been in the past, the ’80s fashion trends for guys included comfortable loose fitting jeans, baggy denim jeans, and slouch pants.

Although most clothing styles remained the same, the colors, patterns, and designs did vary from year to year. For example, the overall style of dress trousers and jeans that were common during the decade did not exist during the early part of the decade. However, the trend toward bold colors and prints became more common, particularly toward the end of the decade. This increased the number of people choosing bolder and more fashionable colors for their clothing, which made the 1980’s fashion trends for guys even more interesting.
