Fashion Tips: Wearing a Long Scarf Like a scarf

A long scarf is one of the most versatile, attractive and warm accessories that you can own – and it’s also one of the easiest. If you were stuck for a fashion accessory for less than a buck recently, you’d be surprised to know that you can easily find a long scarf for less than $10 at any store in your local mall or department store. If you want to try something a little more original, try one of these tips for making yours look just a bit more “you”.

The most basic (and rather dull) scarf knot is as follows: simply fold up a long scarf into half and then wrap it (with the folded-over edge facing out) over your head, pulling the two loose ends behind you through the loop on either side. You can do variations on this, like turning the scarf inside-out, or pushing the edges of the long scarf against your head to make it look a little more “stylistic.” Or, perhaps you like a simpler look with just a single loop. To create this neat and tidy look, you simply wrap the scarf twice around your head, once across the widest part of your face, then back down to your chin. This creates a sort of checkerboard effect, and is a simple way of giving your hair a little bit of extra pizzazz.

You can use a scarf to add some texture to your style. Try pinning one end to the front of a shirt or blouse for a slightly different look. Remember, when you’re pinning an item of clothing to your face, the length of the scarf should be no shorter than your wrist. If you want to get really adventurous, you can always try to take one end off of the scarf, and leaving it loose on your neck.
