Fashion 1994 Trends

Fashion 1994 trends started in January of 1994, as the fashion industry geared itself for the Christmas shopping rush. The year started off with clothing focused more on children and maternity fashions. This would set the tone for the following season, which would include both adult and children’s clothing lines. The spring fashion showed a shift away from lightweight summer clothing towards heavier weight garments, such as jackets and coats. These trends reflected colder weather and a return to heavier fabrics.

The summer was filled with flannels, paisley prints, and nautical-inspired patterns. Fall brought us solid sweaters, as well as heavy woolen sweaters and blazers. Winterwear generally avoided denim and heavy outer wear. Accessories were more pom poms and brooches this time around, with bows and ribbons taking the place of zippers. Bracelets and jewelry became bolder and feminine, while belts stayed neutral and simple. Casual Clothing remained largely unchanged, aside from a few stray items, such as hats and scarves.

The fashion of the’1994 ‘wasn’t quite as radical as it had been in previous years, but fashion did change for the better, with designers creating bolder, more memorable designs. Celebrities also made an impact on fashion, as stars gave their opinion on what they would be wearing that year. This resulted in the fashion of the era being more wild and wacky than usual.
