Ashley Ording has been at the center of quite a few controversies since he came out of Hollywood as a British national and began his acting career. Born in Southern England, Ashley was first thought to be British by his American film directors because of his British accent. However, after appearing in quite a number of films, including the Rebel Without a Cause, Bruce Almighty, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Ording finally earned the right to call himself British. In the TV series Terra Nova, he played the character of David Gerson, a Canadian national who had been asked by his boss to take command of the United States navy in Europe after America became involved in World War II. But after this episode, he was made aware that he was actually a British national, and had therefore committed a violation of the British Nationality Act.

Ashley Ording finally obtained his citizenship in the year 2021. This is primarily due to the fact that his wife, Barbara Gordon, had been given American citizenship due to her marriage to an American, John Gordon. The only issue with Ashley’s citizenship status is that he had failed to disclose his full birth date when applying for American citizenship, which made him ineligible to obtain British citizenship. He also renounced his British citizenship in order to become a British citizen, which meant that he would have to give up his citizenship in the UK if he ever decided to live permanently in the country.

As it turns out, Ashley Ording is still a British national, as we can see from his credits on the TV series The Firm, and as we can see in his bio information on the British Broadcast Service website. On the other hand, his partner, Barbara Gordon, was American. But in this case, their nationality was combined into the British Nationality Act of 2021.
