Erika Lust is a Sweden-based independent film director, writer and producer. Since the release of her groundbreaking independent erotic movie The Good Girl, Lust has since been integral in championing the goals of the international feminist pornography movement by capturing the female gaze in all its glory, and a commitment to free female pleasure for every woman. Born in Southern California, Erika Lust grew up immersed in the sexual politics of the sexually repressed Swedish girls she came in contact with as a child growing up in an upscale suburb. Following a brief period of self-discovery, Erika Lust settled into the role of writer, editor and performer, traveling throughout Europe and America to create her theater work.

The birth of her son, Ryan, in 1990 provided the much-needed break that reshaped and revitalized Erika Lust’s life. Following the death of her second husband, Ryan was forced to acknowledge his father’s infidelity, which left both women with scars that they would carry for the rest of their lives. Reintroducing herself to the world as a mother and wife, Erika Lust pursued the role of a professional writer, editor and actress once again, traveling throughout Europe and America to participate in various political, social and environmental debates. She discovered that the physical distances between her diverse bodies were no barrier to sharing intimate moments with loved ones, which led to the formation of a close relationship with her long-term partner, Patrik Babilsson. In 1995, the couple decided to remarry and in keeping with the times remarried, before the birth of their fourth child, Erika Lust decided to pursue her acting career once more. This was to prove a wise decision as she discovered her true calling and began to work on projects that would enhance her appearance and performance.

As her profile continues to grow and her name becomes recognised as a respected sex symbol in the industry, Erika has decided to take up writing as her profession. Recently she completed the script for a feature documentary entitled “The Girls”, about the life of squatters in a squatter populated area of Amsterdam, whose stories are told with affection and authenticity. Not only does this unique film give an insight into the day to day life of these characters, it also showcases the trials and triumphs of Erika’s courage as a pioneering female sex worker. In addition to her writing, Erika will be co-directing a feature length film called “Water Lilies” (which is being helmed by fellow Sweden-based director Mats Sylja), based around the life of a young girl who falls in love with a garden lily.
