Elena Gruchinksin is an American professional figure skater, currently ranked #2 in her category in the world. Elena is a two-time world champion rollerblade skater and holds over twenty-five professional spots on several national and international ice skating organizations. However, despite her achievements on the ice, it seems that Elena has not won a world title to crown her as the world’s best female rollerblader.
Elena is thirty years old, but has admitted to not being able to participate in competitive figure skating until recently because of her lack of height. Elena does, however, plan on taking part in the Olympics in the next four years, and she will be an opponent for Russia’s Marina Sechin in that time. Elena is currently the only woman of Russian descent competing professionally. She wears the green and white colours of the Russian National team, and her partner at the moment is Dmitry Yashin. Elena has competed against other Russian professionals, most notably Valentina Khrunov, who are also of Russian descent, but who hails from Canada.
Elena has not trained extensively in hockey, despite her obvious skills, because she is primarily a figure skater. However, given her height, if she were to try and play hockey, it is likely that her height would prevent her from competing. Elena is also known to have used bodybuilding supplements in order to increase her muscle mass, and so this could also be seen as a reason for her lack of results. Elena is now working with the Russian team Yuliya, which has only ever had one woman ever compete, Anna Winter. Elena is hopeful of joining the Russian National team in the near future.
