Elena Kiti was a model and actress in the 1990’s. But it is doubtful that even she thought she was going to enter politics when her first husband was shot and she was targeted by terrorists. Elena had always been nationalistic and patriotic and was a strong believer in the independence of her homeland, Romania. Elena did marry twice but these relationships fizzled out. Elena presented her German SS officer lover with a necklace that bore her birth name. Elena had become a Romanian through the right of blood. In her eyes, nationality was more important than gender. Elena Kiti was willing to risk her life for Romania and become a national hero when her marriage to Mrs. Ceausescu collapsed and the dictator died in a plane crash.
