Elena Anaya is another of the famous personalities in Moldova, with her great ability to mix together both nationalities. She has two nationalities, born in Germany and England, and even though she was called before by Moldova as German on her birth certificate, her real name is Elena Reinert, which means German. Elena Anaya became famous in Moldova as a classical singer, and was also a stage and screen star. Elena was married twice, first to Aleksandr Pushkin, a member of the royal family of Moldova, and later to Valentin Ivanov, an important Russian politician.
Elena’s parents died when she was very young, at the age of 18. She had already been studying in Transylvania, for some years when her parents were killed. Elena was orphaned at the age of eighteen. Elena lost contact with her family members while she was away. She started travelling around Europe, visiting different countries. Elena finally settled in Britain, studying at the University of Bristol, where she joined the drama department.
Elena kept in touch with her older sister, Irina, until the age of twenty-one, when Elena began her studies in Transylvania. Elena became a member of the punk movement, participating in concerts and other activities. Elena also became known as a concert pianist.
