It seems as though the fashion industry is constantly trying to launch new lines and designs targeting women who are over a certain age – commonly aged 35 and up – with a view to challenging the cookie-cutter images that are typically associated with mature woman. In recent years, the only real challenge these age defying fashion’s face is making them look and feel great. The Caroline Leuba brand has certainly done this whilst providing the plus size market with some stunning new ranges of dresses and skirts. This autumn, it looks as though they may have achieved even more – after all, who said that you need to be tall in order to wear an outfit?

So what exactly does a professional role model look like? We are always being told that our image – or that of our partners – impacts greatly upon our own self-esteem. One of the reasons why this is the case, is because tall ladies tend to be perceived as much more mature and capable individuals than their shorter counterparts. We therefore subconsciously project this image onto our partners, giving them the perception that we are more confident and capable in all aspects of life. In short, we want to be perceived as someone who is potentially very successful, which is one of the reasons why so many fashion companies have been capitalising on this.

So, why is height irrelevant when it comes to a fashion career? Is it because the average lady is already considered to be very smart and capable? Of course not – but it can be hard convincing people that you can overcome this perceived advantage, especially if you are in a professional role such as a financial advisor. So, if you want to attract more women – regardless of your height – then don’t let your weight get in the way of a potential partner.
