Caroline Dare is an athlete, a two-time National Spelling Bee champion and a member of the British Royal Horse Racing Association. She is originally from Ireland. Recently, Dare has admitted to using her height and nationality to play up the ‘big’ qualities in herself and her partner, thereby creating a height difference in a relationship. This is a controversial issue in the UK because some people believe that being of a certain height automatically makes someone attractive. This is not the case and many couples manage to keep their relationship interesting despite the height difference.
In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Dare said: ‘It’s important to make your partner feel like they are big and tall – I do think it adds some excitement to the relationship. When you look as a tall woman, you can be more stunning. The height difference does not affect my own personality. We have a good relationship; we do laugh and joke and I like to tell her I am from Cork – she thinks I am a Scot, so it doesn’t matter where I am born – and I am not Irish.’
There are arguments both for and against height difference. Some people believe that there is nothing wrong with someone who is taller than them, stating that height difference may lead to jealousy among partners. But this is only applicable if the height difference is drastic – if you and your partner share a bathroom with someone who is shorter than you, the height difference may cause discomfort and embarrassment. Some also believe that there is nothing wrong with a partner who is tall, citing the fact that many celebrities fall in love with tall men. But whatever you choose to do, please be sure that you are comfortable with it before going ahead with it.
