On the set of Age of Fitness, Dana Frider tries on different types of clothing as she dances with her husband, David (John Bon Jovi) in their home. She wears a short-sleeved shirt with fishnet stockings and thigh high socks. In one scene, she is shown wearing a bright red shirt that is the same color as her husband’s blouse. The couple is in an extremely romantic situation as they discuss David’s feelings for her: “I love you, Dana,” he says while pulling her in for a kiss.
After the episode, Dana reveals that age is not an issue for her when it comes to finding the right man to marry her. “I think I’m in pretty good shape already,” she says. She explains that working out and exercising keeps her in shape and tenses her muscles, which helps with the attraction process. It should be noted that Age of Fitness was one of the only shows to feature an onscreen romance between a normal human female and an extra large human male. Unfortunately, most reality shows about weight loss or health never show couples that are just normal size; it is much more common for couples to end up in a slumber party type setting, like the Frider and Bon Jovi show. There are a lot of reasons why television networks choose to air shows with obese people and stay away from shows with slim people; it’s just a business move that can be explained by the ratings.
Some may wonder if she is trying to attract men to be able to have a baby with them, as she was married to David before. “We were very much a happy family,” she says. “I had no children, and now that I do have a child, I am so excited!” Her new partner, David, was not interested in getting married at first; he proposed to her after seeing her in a skydiving event, which she says was one of the biggest turning points in her life. “I really couldn’t believe that this man would be interested in me before, but he said he loved the thrill that I gave him by telling him I wasn’t interested in children. The fact that he proposed before the age of legal age was so wonderful to me.” She says that her new role model has inspired her to stay in shape and to hold off on having children.
