She is most notably known for her starring turn as Kelly Maxwell in the groundbreaking Starz horror-comedy’s Ash in Evil Dead as well as the spin-off Evil Dead Rising. Her acting career spans over seven years, but her most notable feature remains the role of Max Brooks in The Blind Side. She has also appeared in movies such as Invictus, Tin Cup, Man on the Moon, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

When discussing her nationalities, Dana stated that her father is Italian and her mother is from Malta. She has said that her mother is Maltese and was once adopted by Germans. She has additionally stated that her father left the country when she was a young girl, which left her with only a Portuguese name. She has stated that her father loved America and wanted to return but was never allowed to return. Her nationality is a source of some controversy, as she is not technically Persian.

Height and gender were some of the first topics of discussion between Dana and her partner Peter Specter. They have discussed this issue on the likes of blogs, websites, in their on-air conversations, and through letters (there is even a song called This is Your Nationality). In an interesting piece on The Friendly Woman, Dana stated that she feels comfortable with both men and women. She stated that she feels more attracted to men than woman, though she admitted that being with a woman leaves her feeling like a robot. She did state however that she has always found herself attracted to tall and athletic men.
