Dana Arish – Tall and Strong

When Dana Arish of Ireland was preparing for her first World Series appearance, the tall and thin Irish star had to deal with questions about her heritage, her height and whether she had Irish heritage. She is of Irish nationality and yet was born in North America, which some people might consider a nationality or ethnic group rather than just a location. But now, as an athlete, Arish is more than proud of where she came from, and she is not held back by the physical attributes that define an athlete in this sport.

Her height is one thing, but the question of her nationality was a bit confusing, because her father was Egyptian. Yet she was raised largely in Ireland, and her mother was British, so there must have been a bit of confusion about her origins. Well, it turns out that her maternal grandfather was Egyptian, but other than that, her biological parents were both Egyptian. Now then, the confusion about her nationality was cleared up, but what about her height? As it turns out, Dana Arish is not quite tall, but one of the wonders of modern medicine is that whatever genes were hers are likely to be passed on to future generations.

It is interesting that Arish, now an adult, has been asked about her height repeatedly by the media since she was interviewed for a New York Times article in 2021. In the article, she was quoted as saying, “I’m not very tall. I’m average. I guess I’m what I call a lily-of-the-valley. Maybe I’m a lily-of-the-valley too.”
