Born in Brooklyn, Olivia Eggen is a Nationality: American and from birth her parents’ were German immigrants. Growing up in a household where three sons enjoyed the American dream, Olivia was exposed to such influences as sports, music, theater and the internet. As a young girl she made her mark on the world stage as an actress playing such memorable characters as “A Christmas Story” and “E.T. .”

Growing up in the Lower East Side of New York City, Olivia was surrounded by a vibrant community where people of all races, ages, and ethnicities came together to share experiences, attainments, and knowledge. The area around Prospect Street in Brooklyn was the home to numerous “houses with a story,” or as it was sometimes referred to,” Neighborhoods.” It was here that the actor and musician Olivia Eggen made her first professional acting debut when she was cast as Coraline, the sarcastic, mischievous teenage girl who inhabits a magical alternate world called the Coraline Forest. This role earned her not only a first break in Hollywood, but also the chance to work with some of the most notable names in animation and even in live-action television. Her eclectic style of acting, which combines humor with romance, brought a refreshing perspective to roles in both television and movies.

In the feature film adaptation of Coraline, written and directed by Henry Selick, Olivia Eggen plays the title role. She plays Coraline herself, an escaped witch who has somehow been returned to her hometown. There she reunites with her younger sister Amy (voiced by Julie Benz) and together they discover the dark secret that has trapped their home and everyone else in it. Sporting new attitudes and hair colors as a result of her return, Coraline is now faced with protecting her home and the rest of her planet from the forces of darkness. The film version of Coraline also stars Guy Pierce, Cara Delevingne, John Hodgman, and many more. Due to its unique animation style and unique story, Coraline made a huge splash at the Sundance Film Festival and earned the movie a standing ovation from audiences around the world.
