Claire Merchlinsky is a professional writer from New York City. She has always had a keen interest in writing but when it came to pursuing a career in writing she pursued it for twelve years until she reached a point in her career where it was time to take a step back and see what opportunities lay in front of her. After deciding to give writing a try she went to work on a novel, but after spending nearly six months putting the book together she realized that there were a lot more characters in the book that she wanted to flesh out, so she started looking for other career opportunities. After she discovered that the Art Institutes in New York offered writers a chance to learn about screenwriting through a mentorship program, she knew that she had found her calling. Claire spent twelve happy years writing several successful books for which she received many awards, but she never felt that the love of writing was stronger than her desire to be an artist.
Claire went on to write several non-fiction books on art and culture as well as a novel entitled “The National Lampoon’s Animal House,” and these works of art have sold millions of copies worldwide. Claire’s other notable novels include “A Brief History of Seven Short Sleepless Nights,” “The Desolate Area,” “The Queen of the Damned,” and “The Gods of Paris.” Claire was married to a man for fifteen years before becoming a full-fledged writer, but she maintains the same devotion to her artistic interests as she did to her writing. She has been known to talk about her love of art as if it were a calling, and she discusses art and its various forms frequently on her web site.
One way that Claire Merchlinsky demonstrates her unique personality type is in how she relates height. At one point she refers to herself as “five feet tall” whereas another time she refers to herself as “just over six feet in height.” She describes her personality as “very intellectual” yet she seems to enjoy sharing her creative ideas with fellow writers. Claire is quick to criticize herself, as if others are not paying attention to what she is saying. Her frequent comments regarding her height and stature are interesting to read considering that she could easily be considered very short even though she is in an industry that celebrates taller authors.
