Commercial Space, Adriana Hannah’s Approach

Hues Hair, the professional identity of Adriana Hannah, is based upon a beautiful interpretation of the French Nationality and an ancient Greek ideal of “ordering”. Adriana Hannah is currently designing, decorating and furnishing the commercial space of a luxury office located in the heart of Richmond. She currently specialises in the areas of colour coordination, catering, retail and event space design.

Described by Melbourne based architectural consultant Adriana Hanna as an “interior designer/consultant” she combines the creative disciplines of art with the technical knowledge required for building commercial spaces that meet all current and future demands. Hues Hair, established in Richmond by former Richmond Councils artistic director Jamie Hughes earlier this year, has been conceptualised by Melbourne based architectural firm of Adriana Hannah. The underlying aim of the interior planning and spatial design was initially to break away from the expected hair salon typology that usually organises clients in an organised, row-like line behind a partition.

Rather than being a cut above the rest Adriana Hannah and her team have produced an aesthetic that integrates architecture and colour in a way that engages and entertains. This process is characterised by numerous interlacing aesthetic ideas which are based on the interplay between form and colour, form and texture, and textural and visual elements. These ideas are then transformed into functional objectives, ultimately giving rise to an aesthetic which serves the needs of its client. This “service aesthetic” philosophy is reflected in Adriana Hannah’s own statements and numerous articles in her many publications, most notably her critically acclaimed volume Commercial Space: An Architectural Guide for the Richmond Region (RRichmond Press, 2021).
