Claire Tabouret has been described as “a French artisan of unconventional taste” by the art publication Le Figuerite. A contemporary artist whose works focus on the intersections of art and womanhood, her artwork has been displayed widely and her work appears frequently in galleries and public settings. Claire is a French-American living in Los Angeles. She is originally from the southern part of France, where she was interested in painting all forms of women’s life from head to toe.
Claire began developing her strong sense of visual interpretation while still in school in the painting and writing style of her mentor, Mathieu Flamand. After Flamand’s death, Claire concentrated her efforts on interpreting the symbols in his paintings. As a result, her artwork has shown the versatility that would make even the most seasoned artists look and feel at home.
Claire’s career path and artwork have taken her across many countries and she has experienced being involved in the politics of art and women’s expression as a distinct artistic voice. She currently lives in Los Angeles and works as a freelance illustrator. Her international art career is continually growing with each new project. She believes that every single person on this earth has the right to express themselves, and she is proud to be a representative of this worldwide community of women and their artistic expressions. Her numerous awards including the presto prize from the Cannes International Festival of Creativity (Fiction), the grand prize from the Grand Competition des Lears de la Ceramic de la Ville de La Meuse (Women’s Art Festival) and the Prix de la Paysage (Grand Prix de la Paysage) have all helped define Claire’s career.
