Claire Blackwelder has been a controversial figure within the UK since her appearance on Britain’s hottest chat show, Have I Got A Prue? This controversial radio personality has become a media star due to her controversial comments about her former partner, Nick Cave. Claire made a number of wild and disparaging claims about her then boyfriend, which earned her a considerable amount of controversy with her fans and the general public. The reason for this was her comments regarding gender equality in the country, which at the time seemed to be a subject that should have been discussed in detail rather than her simply dismissing it as a myth.

Claire Blackwelder was born in Canada but is British by birth. She claimed to have lived in several countries throughout her life, most frequently Scotland, although she did also have a degree from the University of East Anglia in England. It would appear that her native citizenship had no bearing on her decision to join the TV show, Have I Got A Problem. Although she has stated that she likes both English and Scottish people, she has said that her only true love is her Canadian heritage, which she regards as her family. Despite this, Claire is not completely comfortable in regards to discussing her roots in an American accent, as it appears to be frowned upon by a large part of the general public. As such, her accent has been used to play on the audience’s prejudices, making her character seem unlikeable and yet not entirely typical of the British speaking population.

Claire’s parents are both doctors, which might explain her career choice of entering the medical profession, yet she never considered it to be her calling. Her father worked in a hospital, whilst her mother was a dental nurse. Claire was always interested in dentistry and always looked up to her parents for advice regarding her future career, until one day her father told her that he thought she would make a great dentist. Although Claire was slightly embarrassed by his suggestion at first, she has since developed a passion for the profession, viewing it as the only way she could fulfill her dreams.
