Casey Mize is an American pro baseball player currently for the Detroit Tigers minor league team. He was drafted by the Tigers in the first overall selection in the 2021 MLB draft. Previously, he was a member of the Auburn Tigers College baseball team. As a result of his professional experience and above average fastball, his services have been hired by the MLB club to be part of their pitching rotation.

Mize, who is listed at 6 feet and 170 pounds, is known as being a hard throwing right-handed pitcher with a decent but not exceptional change. His fastball velocity ranges from eighty to one hundred five miles per hour. Mize’s best pitch in his brief career was a sinker that he threw twice every nine pitches. Casey Mize has stated that he is open to sharing his professional success and knowledge with other young players on the Tigers roster.

Casey Mize was born in Port Charlotte, Florida. He played high school baseball at the Archbishop Curley High School and he also attended the University of Alabama. Mize has maintained a relatively clean record throughout his professional career despite a high strikeout-to-walk ratio during his tenure with the Tigers. He is a conservative manager and he does not like to use a lot of big name players in high pressure situations. The MLB club is pleased with his performance so far this year.
