Anna Mucha was born in 1906 and was a Polish Jewess. She was an artist who excelled at art, literature, music, drawing and the theater. It was while still a teenager that she began to meet with a man who would become her lover and later marry him. Although many years had passed since their marriage, Anna continued to live with her Jewish nationality and was very much displeased when, in 1920, her lover took his own life. She felt that she had failed as a woman and so forth.

Two and a half years later she met again and this time it was with a man who was thirty years older than she was. This man offered to help her find employment after his own career had come to a halt and he even gave her the key to his heart. Shortly thereafter she married Josefa Machalins, a highly successful Spanish banker, whose career had soared high during the period of the Second World War. As Anna’s career progressed and her husband became more supportive of her, she slowly began to spend more time with him in order to help him manage his career, much to his irritation.

Eventually he suggested that she get an education so that she could understand the business end of banking. Although her own education had been very focused on art, she was not prepared for the business end of it and needed some additional training. To this end, she enrolled in a course run by the bank in which she would learn about international banking and how it worked. This career path would ensure that she would have a better understanding of what it was she wanted to do in her career and would enable her to find her own niche and to stand out from the other women working in the profession at that time.
