Erika Altes is an Australian-born writer, artist and producer best known for creating the TV series ‘Raising Helen’. However, her life is very much a work in progress. Born in Southern Africa, Erika Altes studied art at a very young age in what was one of the most politically correct countries in the world. At the age of 17, she was interned in London as an illustrator while studying art and English and from there got her first professional opportunity when she was hired by Universal Pictures to create concept sketches for some films.

After that she decided to develop a novel as a means to share her imagination, and ‘The Rise of Ludd’ was written as a novel before it was turned into an animated movie. Nowadays, Altes is mainly focused on writing novels and screenplays. She has written several books for young adults, including ‘The Best Laid Plans’ and ‘The House Of Many Dreams’.
