Sofia Tornambene is an Italian pop singer. She has achieved fame as a member of the opera Nova and also has a number of credits in films and television. She is best known for singing the theme song for the film “The Godfather” as well as the original composition banjo played by John Corigliano. She is thirty-four years old. Her current profile states that she is a national of Italy and that she was born in Genoa. While there is no precise record of her age, it is known that she was at one time a member of the cast of the Broadway musical “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, and that she appeared in a number of commercials for Italian products.

Born in Italy to parents who were of Greek descent, Sofia spent her early years in Greece. At the age of sixteen she was apparently forced against her will into marriage, which was forbidden under the Roman law at the time. The marriage failed, and she became a recluse, withdrawn from the public eye. It is rumoured that this served to revitalise her career, as she began studying and writing opera in which she paid particular attention to the role of the chorus girl.

Following this she appeared in a string of British musicals including “Hammer’s Hall”. However, inevitably, all these years in which she shunned the spotlight and performed in anonymity in order to achieve personal satisfaction seem to have had the effect of giving her a new determination to make a success of a new life. It was apparent in some of the music she wrote, and particularly in her first major album, “Fame”, that she had been thinking about a new career. This was sparked when she discovered the existence of a theatre company called “Zanussi” which was based in New York City. At the age of twenty-one, Sofia Tornambene began a relationship with dancer Valerio Pena, which would result in two very successful careers.
