Can Pakistan Achieve Its Goal of Developing a Fashion Trend?

Can we once again say that Pakistan’s Government can deliver Fashion Trend 21st Century and Can they do it by having a target of transforming Pakistan into the fashion capital of Asia? The answer is a resounding yes! The recent addition of the capital city of Islamabad in Pakistan to the International City List has given rise to many new and existing fashion trends. The CPEC/ Islamabad Fashion Week, which is organized by the Alliances in Fashion Islamabad and is accompanied by a fashion show is a great example of successful integration of entertainment and style in the public arena. The event is hosted by none other than the current President of Pakistan Ashura Uvez Kohli and is celebrated together with his cabinet and his government as well as the members of his cabinet, both from Pakistan and International City List.

This marks the first instance of an international event being hosted by a government in Pakistan. It also marks the biggest exhibition on the Asian continent in terms of number of participants, besides taking the title as the largest fashion show on the Asian continent. The event organizers have gone ahead to mark the success of the event by offering a world-renowned prize money to the winner of the prestigious Fashion Designers Award. The prize money, in fact is a culmination of the generous amount the government has offered for the promotion of Fashion in Pakistan. The prize money has been graciously provided by the government of Pakistan and is a tribute to the caliber and brilliance of the people behind the fashion designing industry in Pakistan.

Now that this remarkable event is over, what is next? Is there enough scope for creativity, innovation and progressive thinking in Pakistan’s fashion industry? Will new trends and innovations spring forth from within or will they be driven by international events? The answer to this all depends on the people and the government of Pakistan and their vision for their country. Let us hope that the government will continue to support and encourage Pakistani designers to take their rightful place at the global fashion trade shows and fashion exhibitions.
