Lara Lessmann is a National Park ranger. Her life path has taken her to many lands and she loves them all. Born in Texas, raised in New Mexico and eventually settled down in Louisiana as a child, the world is her playground. She’s always been interested in nature and how it interacts with mankind so these days, this interest has found an outlet through writing books on natural conservation.

As her latest novel focuses on the relationship between National Park Ranger, Paul Henrich, and his estranged wife, Lara Lessmann has produced another masterpiece of a tale of good versus evil. Henrich and his wife have been estranged for some time, ever since their wedding more than thirty years ago. Their marriage has been a sham, their devotion for each other an illusion. In this book, the distance between them is highlighted as they try to save the environment on their home ground. As their friendship is tested, as their professional and personal lives are intertwined, they discover that their bond has not only remained intact, but strengthened, too.

When the National Park Service sends them on a mission to protect a species of butterfly that has only been seen in the area for three hundred years, they’ll find that their lives will never be the same. The pair is not only able to save this species but also to bring back to life what was once considered endangered. Their unlikely partnership turns out to be the basis for the title of the book, as they struggle to work together despite their different nationalities. The couple succeeds because both of them have a passion to see the world preserved and protect its natural habitat. It may not be everycies’ ride, but Lessmann has managed to turn a good story into a bestseller.
