Olivia Ong is an award-winning singer and actress from Singapore. Most of her early works were in Mandarin Chinese, while later she has also released songs in English, Cantonese and Japanese as well. In her younger days, her first professional entertainment career mostly focused on singing cover versions of popular jazz tracks, but over the years she has gone on to release many songs of different genres. She has released music that is fit for both young adults and children as well as songs that are more mature and traditional in theme. Her latest album, titled “After Laughter”, contains some of the most traditional songs she has ever sung.

Born in Bindi Raya, Singapore, Olivia Ong’s parents are Chinese. Her early musical interests are usually related to the folk music and pop culture of Singapore, as she was brought up listening to Japanese and American music. These influences shaped her personality and choices of music, which are often inspired by Asian instruments and lyrics. Her musical influences include Indian classical music, traditional Chinese music, and classical to rock and pop music from Japan, the USA and England. From these influences, Ong has also added modern touches to her songs including folk, rap, and electronica. She has been nominated for several music awards including the Best Female Singer category at the 2021 Singapore Music Awards.

Born in Manila, Philippines, Olivia Ong has become one of the most popular singers of Singapore and she is well-known for her work with the Singapore rap scene. Her first major role was in the film called “The Replacements” as an original member of the band Replacements. The movie made her a name in the Singapore film industry and she went on to receive multipleredited roles in other films and television shows. Ong has achieved her highest popularity through the use of song in advertisements, music videos, and as a member of a popular group the Bangles.
