Aurora Mikalsen was born in Holsburg, West Germany. She is of Danish and Irish ancestry, both of which are rare and she attributes this to being ‘half international’. Today, Mikalsen is an accomplished goalkeeper for FA WSL team Spurs Hotspur and represented the Norwegian national side at numerous youth levels, most notably at the under-age level. It should be noted that she only started to play football at a younger age of 16 when her father took her to see a Wimbledon match on the internet and the rest, as they say, is history.

However, her international career began at the age of 17 when she travelled to Norway to represent her country in the FIFA World Cup, making two appearances. From there, she moved on to playing for the likes of Austria, England and France before moving to north America where she played soccer for the Washington Spirit. Despite being signed by the New York Cosmos initially, Mikalsen was quickly traded to Spurs and currently resides in north London. Mikalsen’s notable achievements include winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in 2021, which was given to Norway but she has since returned to Europe to become a regular member of the Norway senior squad. Mikalsen became the first female player to represent the Norwegians in the Olympics and has also represented her country at the European and Uefa tournaments.

In terms of statistics, Mikalsen ranks fourth in the entire list of female international players with the most goals scored by a female in a single tournament. Her two goals in one game brought her one step closer to joining the list of players that have also scored the most goals in a single international tournament with 45 goals. The list of internationals that feature Mikalsen includes the European Women’s Cup and the FIFA World Cup. Right now, Mikalsen is looking to secure a place in the Norwegian national team and eventually becoming a long-time player for the Norwegian national side.
